AI enablement, minus the hype
Most small businesses are being sold AI tools they do not need, in the wrong order. The sequence that actually works is boring: find the work that is repetitive, measure what it costs you, then automate only the parts that are genuinely repetitive.
We do that audit, then we build the automation. If the honest answer is "you do not need AI for this, you need a better spreadsheet", that is what you will hear.
What we actually deliver
AI readiness audit
A structured look at where your team spends time on work that follows a predictable pattern: quoting, invoice processing, first-line customer questions, data entry between systems, report assembly. We score each candidate on frequency, error cost and how painful a wrong answer would be. You get a prioritised list with rough effort estimates, whether or not you go on to build anything.
Adoption roadmap
A short plan that fits your budget and your appetite for risk. It states which processes move first, what the success measure is, what the fallback is when the model is wrong, and what you deliberately leave alone for now.
Custom assistants and workflow automation
We build against the tools you already pay for rather than adding another dashboard. Typical builds include:
- A support assistant grounded in your own documentation, with a hard handover to a human when confidence is low.
- Quoting or estimating assistance that drafts from your existing price data and history.
- Document extraction — invoices, supplier slips, forms — into your accounting or operations system.
- Internal search across policies, contracts and past projects.
- Scheduled summarisation and reporting from data you already collect.
Team enablement
An automation nobody uses is a cost. We run working sessions with the people who will actually use the tool, write short internal guidance, and hand over ownership. You keep the prompt library, the integrations and the documentation.
Where AI pays off for a small business
- High volume, low variety work. Thousands of similar enquiries, invoices or records. This is where accuracy gains compound.
- Work with a cheap verification step. If a human can sanity-check the output in seconds, automation is low-risk.
- Work that currently queues. If enquiries sit unanswered overnight, a first-response assistant changes your revenue, not just your efficiency.
Where it does not pay off
- Processes you have not defined. Automating chaos produces faster chaos. We fix the process first.
- Anything where a wrong answer is expensive and hard to spot. Pricing, legal, medical and safety-critical decisions need human sign-off, not a chatbot.
- One-off work. If you do something twice a year, the setup cost will never repay itself.
How an engagement runs
- Intro call. Thirty minutes to understand the operation and where the friction is.
- Audit. A fixed-fee review with a written findings document and a ranked opportunity list.
- Pilot. We build the highest-value automation end to end, with a human fallback, and measure it against the number we agreed.
- Rollout and handover. Documentation, training and ownership transfer. No lock-in, no per-seat pricing from us.
You can stop after the audit. A significant number of engagements should.
